Why Proctology?
Dr. Robert West didn’t choose proctology as much as proctology chose him. During his residency he served in a proctology office. “I found that it was very rewarding to help people with sensitive issues like hemorrhoids, and other colon and rectal issues that are hard to discuss, let alone to seek help from a physician. Seeing a doctor for a headache or wound to your arm is a lot different than seeing a doctor for rectal pain or bleeding.”
Many doctors are faced with the challenge of dividing their time between the office and the hospital. It becomes a challenge to give the care that is needed.
“Most of the procedures for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and anal warts can be performed in our office. This affords me more time to spend with my patients.”
Sensitive Health Issues Require Sensitive Care
Dr. Robert West knows that hemorrhoids, anal fissures, constipation and other medical conditions of the colon and rectum not only affect a person’s quality of life, but they are sensitive to discuss, embarrassing and can represent very serious health issues.
“Choosing medicine as my profession, I knew I wanted to help people. My goal is to help people feel at ease, to not feel embarrassed or fearful and to solve their problem as quickly as possible. That’s why we offer same day appointments for patients who may experience severe pain or bleeding.”

Dr. Robert West is married and has a two sons who keeps him busy. Having grown up on a farm, Dr. West loves being out in nature and doing outdoor activities like hiking and fishing.
